==================================== OBJECTIVE OF THE TIPPING COMPETITION ==================================== The objective of the 2024-25 Premier League Tipping Competition is to accumulate the highest number of points of all Participants in the competition. Points are awarded for correctly tipping the outcome of matches played in the 2024-25 English Premier League. Bonus Points are also available in circumstances as outlined by these Terms & Conditions. ================================ 1. DEADLINES AND SUBMITTING TIPS ================================ 1.1. Matches to tip are grouped into "tipping rounds" of the ten matches that all Premier League teams are scheduled to contest typically within a four-day period. 1.2. Selections (hereafter, "Tips") can be submitted for matches in a tipping round on the Fixtures & Tips screen at https://premierleague.onlinesportstipping.com (hereafter, the "Tipping Website"). Match times shown on this screen are shown in the time zone as selected on the Participant's My Details page. A match is available for selection as part of a Participant's Tips for a tipping round when the time shown adjacent to the match has not yet passed (hereafter, "commenced"). 1.3. When submitting Tips for a tipping round, players in the tipping competition (hereafter, "Participants") are required to tip: (a) Two (2) matches that have been selected by the organisers for all Participants to tip (hereafter: "compulsory matches"). (b) Any three (3) of the remaining matches (hereafter: "optional matches"). 1.4. Tips cannot be submitted or changed for individual matches that have commenced. 1.5. Tips can be submitted or changed for individual matches up until the time each match is scheduled to commence. Competition Organisers make a best effort to keep match commencement times up to date, but do not accept responsibility for assuring their accuracy. In the event that the Premier League or its associates reschedule a match with minimal notice, Tips for a match may only be able to be submitted or changed until the originally scheduled start time of that match. 1.6. When a Participant has not submitted any Tips for a tipping round when a compulsory match is scheduled to commence, the Participant will be allocated the team playing away from home (listed second on the Fixtures & Tips page at the Tipping Website) as their Tip for that compulsory match. 1.7. When a Participant has not submitted any Tips for a tipping round when an optional match is scheduled to commence (hereafter, "the commencing match"): (a) When 3 or more other optional matches remain unstarted in the tipping round: no selection is applied to the Participant for the commencing match. (b) When 2 or fewer other optional matches remain unstarted in the tipping round: the Participant is allocated the team playing away from home (listed second on the Fixtures & Tips page at the Tipping Website) as their Tip for the commencing match. 1.8. When a Participant has submitted Tips for a tipping round, a Participant may change their Tips to include a Tip for an optional match not currently in their Tips only in the following circumstances: (a) The optional match for which the Participant wants to submit a Tip has not yet commenced. (b) One or more optional matches for which the Participant has an existing Tip has not yet commenced. (c) The Participant removes their selection for one of their Tips from (b) above, prior to selecting their Tip from (a) above. 1.9. Further to 1.8 above, if all optional matches for which a Participant has submitted Tips have commenced, the Participant cannot change their Tips to include selections for different optional matches (as 1.8(b) is not available). ==================== 2. MAKING SELECTIONS ==================== 2.1. Possible results for all matches include a winning result and a drawn result. Participants may choose any combination of winning and drawn tips. 2.2. Participants submit Tips by selecting the "Fixtures & Tips" page at the Tipping Website. For each of the two compulsory matches and for any three remaining optional matches, each Participant is required to choose a winning team, or a "draw" as the desired result. (a) When selecting a team name, the Participant indicates they predict that their selected team will score more than the opposing team. (b) When selecting "Draw", the Participant indicates they predict that the both teams' scores will be identical, resulting in no outright winner of the match. ================= 3. TIPPING POINTS ================= 3.1. 12 points are awarded to a Participant for each match in which they have submitted a correct Tip. 3.2. "Bonus Points" are awarded to a Participant when all of their Tips for a tipping round are correct. Under normal circumstances, 10 bonus points are awarded, in addition to the 60 points accumulated from the successful tips of individual matches, yielding a total of 70 points. The points awarded according to this condition are subject to Section 4.3.5. 3.3. DOUBLE-UP BONUS 3.3.1. Each Participant may nominate a maximum of one tipping round whose first match has not yet commenced as a "Double-up Round". 3.3.2. All tipping points that the Participant accumulates for their nominated Double-up Round are multiplied by two (2) upon the completion of that tipping round. 3.3.3. A Participant can cancel "Double-up Round" selection up to the commencement of the first game in that tipping round. 3.4. PRE-SEASON TIPS 3.4.1. Before the last match commences in the first tipping round, each Participant may submit a Tip for the answer to a numerical question. The question's answer is unknown at the end of the first tipping round, and known by the conclusion of the competition. Each Participant's answer to this question will be used to resolve ties at the end of the competition, with the Participants answering closest to the correct answer given outright precedence (that is, finishing higher) in the final standings to those tied on the same score as them. See Section 6.4 for more details. 3.4.2. Before the last match commences in the first tipping round, each Participant may submit a tip for the team they predict will finish the 2024-25 English Premier League in 4th Place. A correct selection will score 25 points that will be added to the Participant's total points at the conclusion of the competition. 3.4.3. If no Pre-Season Tips are submitted by a Participant prior to the commencement of the last match of the first tipping round, their Pre-Season tips are drawn at random from those submitted by other competition Participants. ================================== 4. POSTPONEMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS ================================== 4.1. In the event that the English Premier League 2024-25 is cancelled before it commences, or before the completion of the final match on December 31st, 2024, all entry fees will be refunded. If the tournament is cancelled following the completion of matches on this date, prizes will be awarded as advertised, according to the standings from the last completed round as at the time of the competition's cancellation. 4.2. If a scheduled match cannot be completed at or near its originally scheduled date, for whatever reason (such as, but not limited to conflicting match assignments from other competitions, adverse weather conditions or other "Acts of God", terrorism, pitch invasions or crowd violence), the Organisers reserve the right to mark the match as Postponed. The organisers will endeavour to communicate the impact of all match postponements on the tipping competition in a timely manner. 4.3. Further to Condition 4.2, the postponement of individual matches in a tipping round has the following effects on a Participant's score for that round: 4.3.1. Where none of the matches in a Participant's Tips have been postponed, there is no change to how that Participant's score is calculated. 4.3.2. When one or more of the matches in a Participant's Tips have been postponed, their score is calculated as follows: (a) The "Total points for played matches" is calculated - being the points accumulated for matches in the Participant's Tips that were played. (b) The "Average score per played match" is calculated - being the value of (a) divided by the number of matches in the Participant's Tips that were played. (c) The "Postponement Compensation" is calculated - being the value of (b) multiplied by the number of matches in the Participant's Tips that were postponed. The value of (c) is shown on the Fixtures & Tips page next to "Postponement Compensation". (d) The Participant's score for the tipping round is the sum of (a) and (c). FOR EXAMPLE: Should 2 of 5 Tips be for postponed matches, and the Participant tips 2 of the remaining 3 matches correctly: - "Total points for played matches" is 24: ... 2 correct tips @ 12 points per tip - "Average score per played match" is 8: ... 24 points divided by 3 matches played - "Postponement Compensation" is 16: ... 2 postponed matches @ 8 points per played match - Tipping round score is 40: ... 24 points for matches played + 16 points Postponement Compensation 4.3.3. A tipping round will become cancelled in either of the following circumstances relating to postponed matches: (a) At least one Participant has submitted Tips where all the matches that they have selected have become Postponed. Affected Participants are unable to score points. (b) At least 50% of all Participants had two (2) or fewer of the matches in their Tips actually played in the tipping round. 4.3.3.1. The impact on the tipping competition of the cancellation of a tipping round as per Section 4.3.3 is as follows: (a) Every Participant scores 0 points for the cancelled round (b) Any Participant using their "Double-up Round" in a cancelled round will have their "Double-up Round" reinstated for use in future rounds. (c) Subject to match re-scheduling by the Premier League, the Organisers will endeavour to (but will not assure to) arrange for a make-up round to be added later in the competition. 4.3.4. Any points awarded by compensation are eligible to be doubled if the Participant has elected to use their "Double-up Round" for a round impacted by Postponements. 4.3.5. The 10 Bonus Points awarded under normal circumstances for a completely correct set of tips (see Section 3.2) is - when a Participant's Tips include postponed matches - revised down in proportion to the number of matches played in those Tops. Specifically: - No postponements: Correctly tipping 5 from 5 played matches yields 10 bonus points. - 1 postponement: Correctly tipping 4 from 4 played matches yields 8 bonus points. - 2 postponements: Correctly tipping 3 from 3 played matches yields 6 bonus points. - 3 postponements: Correctly tipping 2 from 2 played matches yields 4 bonus points. - 4 postponements: Correctly tipping 1 from 1 played match yields 2 bonus points. 4.3.6. When it is known by Organisers prior to opening a tipping round that some of its matches are postponed, the postponed matches will not be available for Participants to include in their Tips. Such matches are excluded from the postponement rules discussed in the remainder of Section 4.3. ============================== 5. PAYMENTS & REGISTRATION ============================== 5.1. Payment of entry fees must be received by the organisers by the time of registration closure (see Section 5.2). The entry fee if paying using PayPal is AU$40.00; for all other payment methods (including internet transfer and bank deposit), the entry fee is AU$45.00. 5.2. Registration closes at 7:00pm GMT on Friday August 16th, 2024 (8:00pm British Summer Time; 5:00am [Saturday 17th] Australian Eastern Standard Time). 5.3. The "My Details" page includes a "PayPal Check out" button for paying entry fees using PayPal; and the account details for paying by other means. 5.4. Failure by a prospective Participant to tender payment of entry fee by the closure of registration (See Section 5.2) will result in the suspension of their tipping rights and eventual removal from the competition unless their entry fee is received as soon as possible. ========== 6. WINNERS ========== 6.1. At the conclusion of the tournament (considering Condition 4.1), prizes will be awarded to Participants based on the positions nominated in a defined prize list. The tipping competition is expected to be completed on or around Monday May 26th, 2025. 6.2. Prizes will be awarded to a number of Participants who finish at the top of the overall tipping competition standings. Additional mid-table prizes will be awarded to positions among the remainder of the tipping competition standings. 6.3. The total number of prizes and the ladder positions to which they are awarded will be finalised following the closing of registration (see Condition 5.2) and subsequent confirmation of final numbers. This is expected to be announced on approximately September 9th, 2024. 6.4. Participants are required to submit an answer to a numerical tie-break question prior to the commencement of the final match in Round 1, which is used to break ties in the tipping competition standings at the end of the season. Of those Participants tied for the same position, the Participant whose answer is closest to the final answer will finish highest in the standings. Note that depending on the prize breakdown, the best performing Participant in a tie-break may not necessarily win a prize if the tied positions cover a prize position. For example: * 3 Participants are tied for 24th, 25th and 26th positions. * There is a prize for 25th position only. * Participants A, B and C have guessed 30, 40 and 50 respectively for the tie-break question. * The actual answer for the tie-break question is 37. * Participant B's tie-break answer (40) is closest to the actual answer, and therefore finishes in the highest position available: 24th. * Participant A's tie-break answer (30) is the second-closest, and therefore Participant A finishes 25th, * Participant C finishes 26th, with the most distant tie-break answer (50). * By finishing 25th, Participant A wins the prize, despite not having the best tie-break outcome. ============================ 7. ORGANISERS/ADMINISTRATORS ============================ 7.1. The organisers of the Premier League Tipping competition are Braam Smith and Scott Coppock, and can be contacted on premierleague@onlinesportstipping.com. ================== 8. NEW REFERRALS ================== 8.1. Participants registering with Premier League Tipping for the first time are required to identify who referred them to the tipping competition. Upon registering for the 2024-25 Premier League Tipping Competition, each Participant will also become eligible for others to select as their referrer when registering. 8.2. The first five (5) Participants to each refer five (5) or more registered and paid Participants into Premier League Tipping who are new to OnlineSportsTipping.com competitions, will each receive a replica jersey for the Premier League team of their choice (subject to online ordering availability) to a maximum value of GB£65.00. 8.3. The following conditions determine a Participant's eligibility to win the referral prize: (a) Referees must be new, unique Participants who have not participated in OnlineSportsTipping.com competitions previously. The Organisers have ultimate discretion in determining whether a registrant is "new". (b) Referees' and referrer's entry fees must be paid by the deadline specified in Condition 5.2. (c) Only referees who have paid their entry fee by the deadline specified in Condition 5.2 will count towards the Participant's referee total. (d) The later of the time of the receipt of the referrer's own entry fee, and the fifth (5th) entry fee received by their referred Participants, will be the "eligible time" at which a referrer becomes eligible to win a prize set out in Condition 8.2. If there are more than five eligible referrers, the five with the earliest "eligible time" will be the winners. (e) Maximum of one prize per referrer. (f) The referral-winning Participant cannot be an Organiser of the 2024-25 Premier League Tipping Competition (see Section 7). ========================= 9. SURVIVOR ========================= 9.1. From Round 1, in addition to regular Tips, all Participants mark one of their Tips as the match they are most confident in tipping correctly (hereafter, the "Survivor Pick"). 9.2. If a Participant’s Survivor Pick is successful, that Participant continues to participate in the Survivor side-competition in the following tipping round. 9.3. If a Participant’s Survivor Pick is unsuccessful, that Participant is eliminated from the Survivor side-competition, except in any of the following circumstances: (a) The tipping round is cancelled (see Section 4.3.3), (b) The match involving the Participant's Survivor Pick was postponed (see Section 4), (c) All other Participants in the Survivor competition remaining at the start of the round submitted incorrect Survivor Picks (see Section 9.9). 9.4. Those Participants who survive Round 1 continue on to Round 2. The same process repeats for Round 2 (and each subsequent tipping round) until there is one Participant remaining at the end of a Survivor tipping round. The one remaining Participant wins the Survivor side-competition. 9.5. No three (3) consecutive Survivor Picks during the same Survivor competition can be for the same team. 9.6. Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition are able to submit their choice of Survivor Pick (subject to Condition 9.5) for matches that have not yet started, up to that time when at least 50% of matches for that tipping round have commenced. 9.6.1. The Tipping Website allocates the Survivor Pick for a tipping round to all Participants that have yet to submit a Survivor Pick after that point when 50% of the matches in the tipping round have commenced. The Survivor Pick allocated for such a Participant is drawn from their selections (also subject to Condition 9.5) at the conclusion of the tipping round. 9.7. The prize money awarded to the winner of each Survivor competition will be announced in conjunction with the general announcement of prize-paying positions as per Section 6.3. 9.8. Multiple Survivor side-competitions may run over the course of the season (subject to Section 9.7) once earlier Survivor competitions have completed. All Participants of the main competition will be re-entered into any subsequent Survivor side-competition. No additional entry fee is payable. 9.9. Should all Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition have unsuccessful Survivor picks for a tipping round, those remaining Participants will be reinstated and continue in the Survivor side-competition as of the next tipping round. This ensures a Survivor winner is eventually awarded only from the pool of Participants remaining in the Survivor side-competition at the start of that tipping round. 9.10. At the conclusion of the season, if there are multiple Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition, the prize money reserved for that Survivor side-competition will be distributed equally among its remaining Participants. 9.11. The Organisers reserve the right to designate tipping rounds ineligible for a Survivor Competition if there are a significant number of late postponements. Note that in such rounds, Condition 9.3(a) may take precedence.
